In this group we choose a theme, which can range over literature of all kinds - novels, biography, poetry and plays. This year we've been reading literature between the wars, 1920s and 30s. It has been very popular, as there are many great writers and novels/drama we had not read before, such as Jean Rhys’ Good Morning Midnight, George Orwell’s Keep the Aspidistra Flying, and Vita Sackville-West’s All Passion Spent. We are continuing this theme, but including novels written later but set in this period, such as the first book of Anthony Powell's trilogy, A Dance to the Music of Time, as well as works set in the 40s and 50s - quite a broad range that we hope will appeal to all taste.
We meet, in the Balham area.
